"It is indeed," he said before he lapsed into silence, eye sliding close as he became still. He did not need to make the body breathe nor the heart beat since it was merely a form or an illusion as far as all things were considered. He appeared to be either asleep or dead, as far as it was it was a peaceful state.
The djinn was present on this plane but functioning on a higher plane, slowly gathering energy back. It would have been faster if he returned to his plane for a few hours but he had to stay and make sure the human thief did not get hunted down, so he was in a more meditative state.

When Ro's eyes finally wandered up to look at him again, she thought he'd fallen asleep. Shrugging, she got up and retreived the thin blanket from the bed to lay over him, deciding it was best not to wake him in case he either got cranky or he was actually resting up. Satisfied that he would at least be warm in the drafty room, she retired to the bed and removed her cloak to use as her own blanket, wrapping it about her shoulders so that the tattered ends rested somewhere down by her hips. It wasn't the best thing she could have used, but if she curled up she could at least cover a bit of her bare thighs.
She was out before she was even in a perfect ball.

The djinn was pulled back by the movement and he cracked an eye, sighing and shaking his head. Waving a hand he created a new, thicker blanket from the one that covered him and sent it to lay over the human before he moved back to his own plane, leaving a slight case of magick around her that would act as a defensive shield and alert him when she began to wake up so he would be there.
The moment he was back on his own plane, he instantly felt better, his essence freed and healing back nicely, other djinn concerned as to why he was so weak for a moment before the broadcast of a summons reached them and they understood, wordlessly. He was soon restored to his full power, only present for a few hours before he came back to the human plane, settling back in the chair, cross legged as he leaned against the wall again.

Ro was sitting up sleepily when he arrived, the blanket and her cloak pooling in her lap. She regarded him with sleep hazed eyes. "You have fun?" she murmured, indicating she'd known he'd been gone. She may have been human, but she'd been around magical beings long enough to sense when they left a room; you had to when you did business in the blackmarket and hoped to survive.
She rubbed at her eyes to try and remove any left over sleep and try to wake herself up, ignoring the fact that the pony tail her hair had been in was now a mess.

Morpheus chuckled, looking at her fondly as Crow came in through the window to perch on the back of a vacant chair. "If you call it that," he said. "But I have returned to my previous state, so there is no weakness like there was before. Did you sleep well my little thief?" he asked as he arched an eyebrow, waving a hand and having a small feast appear on the table next to him.
"Or perhaps you wish to go back to sleep again, to rest up for your next heist?" the djinn asked with an amused look at her.

The so called endearment knocked the fatigue right out of her. "Hey, what's with this 'my' stuff? Since when am I your's?" she asked, ignoring the food in favor of more important matters. Like him treating her like a pet when she would rather be treated as a human...actually, that may have been why he treated her like a pet. She was weak, amused him, and compared to him had the lifespan of a typical goldfish. The only reason he wasn't worried about her knowing his name too much was because human mortality was high and with her luck, she wouldn't live to see thirty.
At best.

"Well, technically you're my master. Would you prefer I call you master?" he said, face looking like he'd rather suffer through rosemary than call anyone master again. The word always left a rather bad taste in his mouth at the mere thought of uttering it.
"Now would you quit worrying about it, Ro?" he asked, dropping the endearment for the time being as he leaned back against the wall, watching her. "If it bothers you that much, I can go back to my plane and you won't have to worry about me. Unless someone threatens your life of course. Or you can release me and I won't come back so you can die of your own folly or at someone else's whim," he said.

Her yellow decided to make itself known, because she dropped it and swung her legs over the side of the bed to stand. "As long as you don't refer to me as some kind of pet, I think we'll be fine," she muttered as she hung her cloak on the chair she'd been sitting on before. "And I'll make sure never to use your name unless absolutely necessary. That way you won't have to kill me or have someone else kill me."
It was the best she could offer, given the situation, but they both knew they weren't going to like it much."

"As you wish, master," he said, stressing the title as he swept into a bow, his face and motions carefully blank as he regarded her with blank eyes, standing at attention out of the way, looking more like a piece of art and a statue now than an actual person. "Is there anything else you require, master?" he asked.
In his mind Morpheus was raging against it, it was technically a command and he couldn't go against it, no matter if it was phrased by a question, there was enough meaning behind it to say that she was serious about it.

"Dude quit that, you don't have to call me that," she said, now a little concerned by his sudden change in demeanor. At first she thought he was being sarcastic, but one look at his carefully blank face told her she'd said something wrong. "I didn't give you an order, did I?" she asked finally, sounding absolutely horrifed by the thought. "I take it back, okay? Call me whatever the hell you want, I don't care."
She didn't need to be a master at reading expressions to know he was mad; it had been a bonehead mistake, but she couldn't really blame him. "I'm sorry."

Morpheus fixed her with a blank look, his entire posture neutral as he thought how best to show her the irritation he felt when he was forced to call someone master. Remembering how she had reacted to his kiss, he grinned mentally, knowing how well to show the irritation.
Crow shifted his feet, watching the scheming djinn, letting out a "CAW" to show he knew the djinn was up to something but not knowing quite what it was.
Morpheus stalked forward, his gaze pinning the human to her place as he reached her and lazily snaked his arms around her holding her firmly before he crashed his lips down on hers, catching her in a breath stealing, head spinning kiss.

At first she'd been too shocked to move (after all, his expression hadn't so much as changed before she was in his arms with his face glued to hers), but after the fireworks stopped exploding and she was able to think again was finally able to comprehend what was happening. She was in his arms. And he was kissing her. What's more, these two things were happening at once and she wasn't stopping him. And he thought HE was mad about her accidentally giving him an order? Just wait till he saw how angry SHE was going to get for kissing her in retaliation!
"MMPH!" she cried when she was finally capable of real thought, fist coming up to crash into the side of his head.

The djinn chuckled, catching her fist before spinning her around and having her land in a chair. "How much you hate me doing that is how much I hate having to call someone master," he said with a pointed look. "So now you understand how it goes, for everytime I have to call you master, I will kiss you."
It wasn't an empty threat, rather something that he would follow up on, no matter how long it took. When it came to vengeance, he was one of the best, no matter how long it took. And he always got what he set out to accomplish.

The staff was out and fully extended before she was even in the chair five seconds. "You jerk!" she yelled, swinging away angrily no matter how futile it was for her to try. All she knew was she needed to avenge herself somehow, and violent outbursts were usually the only way to do it with guys like him. "I told you I didn't mean it! How. Many. Times. Do. I. Have. To. Say. It!"
Each word was punctuated with another swing, and even when the staff flew from her hands as it inevitably would, she just used her fists. "I said I was sorry, you bastard!"

"I suppose I would be a bastard," he mused as he easily caught her fists, before giving her a hard look, showing her that this was not at all a good idea. "I would highly suggest that you go read up on how you should talk around us. It may help you with these 'accidental' orders you keep issuing," he said as he looked down at her, his voice flat with just a vague hint of irritation.
Inside, however, he was laughing at her outburst, finding it rather amusing even though he started it. Knowing what pushed her buttons was a good way for the djinn to measure how much she actually meant in the words she spoke and promises she made.

The hiss she spat at him was surprisingly accurate from a human, considering how different their vocal chords were from a cats. She'd learned the trick from her time in the circus when she'd need to care for some of the odd animals they'd had. "I swear to whatever god in habits this world, I am going to kill you for that," she growled as blue eyes burned firey holes in his face. "I'mma wipe that smirk off your face one of these days, too. If you ever do that again..."
And she let the sentence trail off so that he could imagine the things she would do to him if he tried that again, meanwhile trying to tuge her wrists free.

"Hush yourself before you make me angry," he warned, eyes flashing as he tightened his grip on her wrists to just this side of pain before throwing her back into the chair, hardly caring if she tipped over or not. He was upset as well but hardly taking it out on her fully as he turned and strode to the window, seeming to debate if he was going to change into something else and leave.
He stood there, motionless and frozen, as if the world were moving around him before he leaped up and crouched there, watching everyone in the street below him.

A faint sniff cut through the thick silence that had spread between him after the outburst. After a few minutes, another, slightly louder sniff followed it, but this one was clearly muffled by it's source. "You suck so bad right now," she hicupped, shoulders hunched and shaking with the barest hints of her quiet sobs. "You don't bother to understand human sensibilities, and then get mad when we do about you offending them. How do you know I'm not some kind of old fashioned girl who believes in saving her first kiss for someone she likes, huh? Or-or that if I wasn't so afraid of dying I'd release you and be done with it?"
There was a sound like someone choking down on something foul, being too polite to actually spit it up. "As selfish as I am, you're even worse. I should just take a page from your book and stop caring; maybe then you'll stop pissing me off." Ro turned teary eyes to Crow, as if she'd been speaking to him the entire time instead of his tempermental friend; the look she was giving him just dared him to caw at how pathetic she was being.

Crow clucked his tongue and shook his head, hopping on the table in front of the girl while the djinn decided to take the form of a cat and reside on the windowsill, steadfastly facing away from the girl. The large, toothy bird shook his head before hopping to land on her knee.
"There, there," he said in his raspy voice as he tried to comfort her. "He doesn't mean most of it, he gets short and angry when someone threatens those he actually likes. It's a bit backwards, but he's a boy. Don't boys usually tease girls when they like them?"
The bird was on a train of thought here and was going to ignore the djinn, no matter how upset Morpheus may be with him later, he liked the girl as well and was going to try to comfort her. "Now calm down and take a breather child and let me explain a thing or two about djinn to you, and especially this one."
The bird cawed once, as if he were clearing his throat before beginning to speak. "Djinn, as you should know, by nature are crafty creatures, always trying to trip up their masters and find out what they can use against them. They cannot help it, it is their nature, however even when they find a master they like, they almost immediately distrust their instincts. Their have been many masters in a djinn's life that promise freedom and not giving orders, but no one grants it.
Morpheus has been promised freedom by every master that has stumbled across him and they have all treated him like the lowest of the low and nothing more than an expendable servant. All except one, Jarlaxle. He was an old wizard, back before the town of Temarra was really even in existence. That is the form Morpheus wears in this plane. Jarlaxle summoned him to his side because he was curious about djinn. He slowly built up a trust with Morpheus and little by little he gave the djinn more and more freedom until finally he stopped using a circle to call him, instead trusting him enough that Morpheus would not kill him.
Morpheus never lay a hand on Jarlaxle and the wizard kept his promise. On his deathbed, he release Morpheus and placed a charm on him, preventing him from being summoned again by banning his name from all books. The only way to summon him know is to know his true name and there is one wizard who was unhappy with that. That is the one who knows Morpheus' true name and who tried to summon him today."
Here the bird paused and tilted his head to the side, as if he were taking in the girl and looking at the djinn, who as a cat had arched his back and turned, padding circles before settling down in the mattress and seeming to go to sleep. Crow shook his head and continued on with his story.
"But when earlier you told Morpheus to stop calling you those names, it was broad enough that there was no way for him to interpret and it bound him into calling you master, which every djinn hates to call. And you should be glad he likes you, otherwise he would not have come to rescue you when the merman was trying to drown you. It is how he shows affection, terming them 'my' or talking about them in such a way.
It may bother you, but his life is not the same as yours, he has nothing that he can actually claim as his, he is claimed by everyone else. And even if you did release him, he would come back and rescue you time and time again. It is really up to you, child, how you want to handle the situation. You have the power now, remember that. He cannot harm you but you can harm him, so please be careful," he finished, cawing several times as if he were coughing, unused to speaking so much.

Ro took this all in silently, tears still trickling down her face as she sat there even after he'd stopped speaking. Now that she really thought about it, they were both kind of stuck with eachother in a situation where trust was an issue; he didn't really trust her not to take advantage of him, and she didn't trust him not to kill her if she released him. Give and take, her mind echoed her earlier words. She turned to face the lounging cat thoughtfully.
She slipped onto the bed silently, gathering the djinn-turned-cat into her arms and giving him a small hug. "Sorry," she muttered into his furry ear and stroking his back. "Guess we both have a bit of a temper. But hey, you can call me whatever the heck you want, yeah? I don't care anymore. I'm sick of being angry right now, anyways; it really wasn't that big of a deal, really."
To illustrate her point, the blonde leaned down and kissed his furry cheek, her drying tears getting caught in his whiskers as she pulled away with a weak smile.
"Friends?" she offered lightly.
