The terrain of the Forsaken Land was a harsh one no matter what time of year. Harsh northern winds would rip the lands asunder without any warning. Snow seemed to always be falling from the sky. There was never a time when the lands were bare of white.
The Forsaken Land was an area that most never dared to travel. Most travelers who came to the northern lands never returned to their home lands. No one who did not know the land came alone, and there were very few guides willing to take strangers across the harsh terrain. Now, only the brave came to cross over these lands, most on pilgrimages to the Sanctuary.
Ayvajin had been across the Forsaken Land many times before. When she had first went across the land she was with her teacher, Rion. Rion had been to the Sanctuary countless times and was able to show Avyajin how to cross the tundra. She had learned well, and she knew dangers of the Forsaken Land very well. She expected peril to come her way no matter how cautious she was.
This day, the necromancer had started her journey over the Forsaken Land early, and by midday she was quite worn out and tired of her white surroundings. Ayvajin knew not to stop her traveling, though, no matter how worn out she became. Daylight was essential for traveling over the Forsaken Lands. Once night came upon the land, the temperatures would drop drastically, and she would be force to set up some sort of camp. Daylight did not save her from the dangers of the land. Many of the predators hunted during the day.
Ayvajin trudged on through the snow. She wore a coat made out of white fur. Her bags and sword were upon her back. The necromancer was aiming to camouflage into the terrain as much as possible. There was a lower chance of getting attacked if she just blended in. She knew to listen to her surroundings as well even thought this day it was difficult to listen. The wind blew harshly against her ears and stirred up the snow. Seeing predators let alone hearing predators was very difficult.
The necromancer let out a slow sigh as she paused for a moment to regain her some of her strength. Ayvajin shrugged her bags into a more comfortable position upon her back before starting her walking once again. She walked for a little ways before suddenly tripping and falling into the snow.
Ayvajin was quick to scramble to her feet, unsure of why she even tripped. She had felt her ankles hit just something. When the necromancer straightened herself out, she realized what she had tripped over. Standing up and showering Ayvajin with snow was a full grown nivisaurus. It shook off the rest of the snow upon its body before turning its dark blue eye to look at the necromancer.
Ayvajin was quick to start running, knowing that the beast would attack her now no matter what. She could hear the nivisaurus give out a loud roar, and then she could hear the loud thud of its feet hitting the tightly packed snow as it chased after her. The necromancer’s mind was racing as she tried to figure out what to do. She knew she had to act fast, because the creature would soon be upon her.
She turned slightly, yelling out a quick spell that erupted from her hand. A blast fire raged from Ayvajin’s hand and went straight to the nivisaurus that was chasing her. The beast slowed in its tracks for a moment, allowing the necromancer to get ahead a bit more. When it returned to the chase, it gave a roar, angrier than before.
Ayvajin wanted nothing more than to just turn around and face the nivisaurus head on, but she knew if she would use her magical energy against this beast that she would be unable to protect herself against the elements. She knew that this particular nivisaurus was full grown. She could easily tell by the size and energy that was coming off of this beast. The necromancer had to think fast in order to not become a meal.
The necromancer tripped once more, finding a slick spot with her foot. She landed hard on the ground and quickly forced herself out before she realized what she had truly slipped on. Ayvajin had landed on a frozen lake. It was hard to run upon the ice, but the necromancer was quick to use the balance that she had acquired more affectively as she continued to run from the nivisaurus.
A loud crack came from behind the necromancer, and she spared a glance behind her. She could see the nivisaurus still coming her way, but the ice had started to crack do to the weight of the beast. This did not slow down the creature. Its focus was on the fleeing necromancer.
Ayvajin continued to run with her might before she slipped yet again and slid several feet upon the ice.

"You do know that running on the ice is never the best way to go?" a partially amused voice came from in front of her. The King of the Incubi had felt the fear spike in the necromancer and decided to pop in and see what was going on. He extended a hand to her as he let his wings unfurl from his back, a scowl marring his features.
"But we should go since the ice won't hold out much longer and the dear creature is slowly but surely gaining ground," he said as he picked her up effortlessly and cradled her to his chest, letting his wings beat and lift them off the ice just in time to see it crumble beneath them and the nivisaurus let out an angry roar before it too was taken into the lake.
Lucien sighed as he looked down to the necromancer, his body temperature warm and giving off heat in comparison to their surroundings. The incubi looked into the area surrounding them and holding the necromancer a bit more securely against his chest as he scanned their surroundings for a safer place to set her down.

Ayvajin held tight to Lucien as he lifted her up in the air. She rested her head upon the incubus’s shoulder, enjoying the warmth. The necromancer did not dare to look back down at where she had just been. She simply kept her arms wrapped tightly around Lucien for a sudden fear in falling.
The necromancer had not been taken up in the air before, so this was quite a new experience that she was unsure if she enjoyed or not. Of course, anything was better than being chased by a full grown nivisaurus.
She pressed her face against Lucien’s clothes, closing her eyes as she did. “Thank you,” she said softly as she tried to relax against the incubus. Her heart rate was still elevated, and her body was shaking quite a bit.

"You are welcome, necromancer. Next time, try not to get a fully grown one. They may be slower but they don't tire out as easily," he chuckled as he slowly descended and settled down on a patch of snow. Letting her down, he kept his arms around her until she regained her balance and her bearings.
"Would you like me to accompany you on the rest of your journey across the frozen north?" he asked as he looked down at her and gently smoothed a piece of hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear with a soft touch.

Ayvajin thought for a moment. “It would probably be a good idea for you to accompany me,” the necromancer said as she fully regained herself. She let out a slow breath. “Just in case something like that happens again. I would rather not be eaten by something out here.”
The necromancer gave a faint smile before looking away from Lucien. She was not use to being so frazzled and overwhelmed. She was use to keeping her calm whenever dealing with something that could threaten her life. The nivisaurus had caught her off guard and had frightened her. She had decided that Lucien stalking her was not such a bad thing.
“So, I suppose I owe you my life… Technically,” Ayvajin said, gazing over her surroundings.

Lucien nodded and let his wings disappear. "You owe me nothing. Consider that a free one," he said with a chuckle. "Now, in which direction were you originally traveling?" he asked as he let his arms drop back to his sides, shoving his hands in the pockets of the pants he wore.
The King of the Incubi was not going to pretend he was ignorant of how he felt for the necromancer and was not going to lie if she asked him directly why he came to her aid, but he doubted she would. He gave her a distracted smile as he took in her form before drawing her into a comforting hug. "You need to relax. The nivisaurus is at the bottom of the lake, dearie," he said.

She allowed Lucien to hug her, not minding the comfort. “I will be fine,” she said, relaxing against the incubus. “Today has just been tiring already, and I just want to get to the Sanctuary and lay down. I would rather not set up camp anywhere upon this land.”
Ayvajin thought for a moment, trying to grasp exactly where she was. She felt turned around and unsure of where she should start walking. When she had been running, she had at least been running in the direction toward the Sanctuary.
“I am not sure what way is the right way at the moment.” She thought for a moment. “If I could find see a spirit headed in that direction, I would be fine.”

Lucien arched an eyebrow, tilting his head back as he shifted through the planes to get an idea of where they were. Turns out they weren't too far, just a few more miles from it and up a rather large hill. Sighing, he shook his head as he pulled his concentration back to this plane. "Would you like me to take you there or just far enough you can see it?" he asked as he looked down at her.
He cared for her, that much he would admit to aloud. The incubi looked around, taking in their surroundings once more for any potential threats. "You are no more than a few miles south of it."

Ayvajin chewed her lip before answering. “You should just accompany me all the way to the Sanctuary and perhaps even stay there with me. I mean, you are already stalking me. It will just be stalking me in closer range.” She sent him a faint smile.
The necromancer would not mind if the incubus did walk her all the way there. She did not care. The company would be nice, not to mention, if she got tired or ran into another beast it would be nice to have the king of the incubi there. Ayvajin knew that Lucien had plenty of energy for the both of them.

"Then we should go," he said as he began walking, choosing to disregard her comment about 'stalking'. He knew where he was going and could easily access the other planes to determine in what direction they were headed. He was more or less dressed for the artic north, wearing a heavier shirt than normal.
He extended a hand to the necromancer, as if to help her up the ledge from the flat area they were standing, knowing where he was going. "Would you like me to carry your bag for you, necromancer?" he asked with an arched eyebrow as he observed her tired form.

“If it is not a bother,” she said before slipping her bag off of her back. Ayvajin was looking for some reason to take off that bag. It had slowly gotten heavier during her traveling today. Trudging through the snow was rather tiring on its own, but trudging through the snow with a heavy bag upon her back had simply worn her out (not to mention being chased after by a nivisaurus).
“You are too kind to me, Lucien,” she said, handing the incubus her bag. “Why is that? No one simply saves a person just because they were entertaining at one point. There is always something behind their actions.”

Lucien shrugged, taking the bag easily and slipping it onto his own back before they began walking again. "Perhaps I like you or perhaps I believe you will be of some use to me," he said as they headed off in the predetermined direction. "Or perhaps it is a secret and you need not know at this time," he said, giving her a completely roundabout answer as most old creatures would do.
He blinked his eyes from a sudden glare of the sun as they rounded a turn, instantly hating the snow covered area with a passion. Of course he would not come here of his own volition, seeing as there was no real reason for him to come here. No one traveling here had any energy to offer nor were they of his preferred type.

“I do not think there is anything you could really get out of me,” Ayvajin said as she walked along with Lucien. “I am just a simple necromancer. I would not know what you think you could get out of me that would be of any use. So, apparently, you must like me.”
She sent him a grin, her eyes bright. “You should just answer me straight instead of put on the front of how old you are and how wise you must be. There is nothing for you to lose by being truthful to me. I doubt I could destroy any sort of reputation or anything of that nature of yours.”

"You never know," he said with a close-lipped smile that meant damn near nothing. The Incubi King was not going to give away anything when he didn't have to and this was one of those moments. The going was slow because the ground was rough and treacherous.
He looked up at the sky, frowning slightly when he noticed the sun was rapidly setting. "You do not have much day light left Ayvajin, and we still have another few miles left to cover. Do you want to camp or do you want me to take you there?" he asked her.

Ayvajin eyed Lucien for a long moment before giving another smile. “Of course the sun would give you an excuse to change the subject,” she said as she looked about. “I would rather just get there. Camping out here is as dangerous as traveling here. If you want to just fly us the rest of the way to the Sanctuary, I would not mind. It would definitely be better than spending a whole night out here. Not to mention I just want a warm bed.”
The necromancer had been looking forward to reaching the Sanctuary for that reason. A nice supper and a warm bed. The traveling had worn her down quite a bit and all she wanted was true rest.

"As the lady wishes," he said with a chuckle as he took the pack off his back again, letting his wings unfurl before bidding Avyajin to come over to him. "Come here so we can leave. It won't take but a few minutes and I will set you down far enough that it will take you no more than a few steps to reach the gates but you will not be seen with me," he said as he took her into his arms, cradling her to his chest again.
With a few powerful beats of his wings, he pushed off from the frozen ground and they were quickly airborne. His word was true, it took them almost no time to be on the castle grounds and he set down lightly within a good distance of the Sanctuary, gently setting the necromancer back down on her feet, holding her long enough for her to get her balance again.

The necromancer held onto Lucien for a moment before finally getting her bearings back. She took her bag and slipped it upon her back once more. She ran a hand through her hair before turning back to the incubus.
“You will come in, will you not?” she said, eyes observing his face. “No one will mind you being in there if you are afraid of such a thing. Nyrivex may be the only one in the Sanctuary at this time, anyways, and he is no reason for you to run off and watch me in the dark.”
Ayvajin did not mind if Lucien stayed there in the Sanctuary. He was more than free to, and of course, he was more than free to just leave.

"I will stay with you, then, until you decide to send me off," he said as he flashed her a grin and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear with a gentle smile. "Then lead the way, little necromancer," he said with a chuckle.
The King of the Incubi really did not know why he felt it necessary to follow her nor go into the Sanctuary where likely his powers would be limited to only those around him and he had a feeling it was going to be an eventful night regardless of the circumstances they were in.

“Alright,” she said with a smile before starting to walk toward the Sanctuary. “I am surprise you are willing to humor me and stay here.” Ayvajin looked over to Lucien and sent him a smile. “That must mean something even if you are willing to actually stick around and interact with me.”
She could not help but tease the incubus a bit. She was quite curious, though, as to why he kept coming around and was willing to save her. He was a rather confusing creature, and he was definitely hard to really understand. This only made the necromancer want to figure the incubus out even more.

"Well, you are far more entertaining than sitting around and listening to petty squabbles about who is claiming which girl and why it matters so much," he said with a shrug. "Really, we are rather vain and selfish creatures, often staking out territory and fighting to keep it."
Lucien laughed lightly as they walked, knowing he'd have more to answer to when he got back but not really caring at the moment. He rather enjoyed spending time with the necromancer, finding it more relaxing than what he had been dealing with in his past, amused by her words and actions as she tried to figure him out.
