Darkness had fallen over the lands. A little over half the moon shown in the sky this night, lighting up the Moditant Plains. There was very little movement over the plains. There was not even a breeze that rustled up the grass and fallen leaves. No animal moved. No hunting was being done. Just silence.
A fog was settling on the land as well. Puffs of white seemed to glow as the moon fell upon them. The fog settled in low over the ground. The land was almost eerie in a sense. Predators could have been easily lurking in the thick fog, waiting for an unlucky rabbit or an unlucky traveler to pass by.
Amaji was fearless. He knew the dangers of traveling over the plains at night, but he did not care. He had traveled over these particular lands many times before without fear. He had come across many a hell hound, many a minotaur, and many a ghoul on his travels through the area. He had destroyed all of them, too. If a creature dared to attack the wizard, he made sure they knew their place instantly.
The sound of hooves on ground came thundering through the fog as Vyktor took Amaji over the plains. The horse was a strong stallion. He had seen his fair share of battles with the wizard. The horse rarely startled because of this as well. He had seemed to grown use to Amaji getting into battles with beasts.
Vyktor had been with Amaji for a handful of years now. When the mixed elf had first found the black stallion, the stallion would have nothing to do with being tamed and ridden on. The horse had been wild, appearing as an untamable creature. What a fight Amaji had to put up against the stallion. In the end, the horse had won that battle. This did not deter the wizard, though. After days of constantly trying to capture the wild horse, Amaji had finally gotten to the stallion to trust him enough. To this day, Vyktor only allows Amaji to ride upon his back when he feels like it. Yet, Amaji still cared for the beast deeply, and often was amused instead of angry when the horse randomly bucked the mixed elf off of his back.
This night Vyktor took Amaji through the Moditant Plains at a fast pace. Yet, this did not stop what was bound to occur. The plains were the most dangerous during the night, and as their luck would have it, they soon had found one of the dangerous beasts.
The black stallion reared up and gave a cry of fury as one of the beasts came about. An enraged mother hell hound jumped out of the grass, snarling and frothing at the mouth as she laid her eyes upon the horse and the wizard. She was one of the larger of the hell hounds, appearing to have just become a mother hell hound not too long ago.
Amaji was quick to dismount from Vyktor and give the stallion a firm push to get him away from the hell hound. The Black Maji unsheathed both of his rapiers, holding them firmly in his hands as his faced the enraged hell hound now.
“Come on, then, beast,” Amaji said to the creature.
A growl came from the hell hound before she ran forward in an attack to the wizard. Amaji was quick to react, stepping forward and with quick blades, cutting the side of the hell hound open wide.

A hunched-up figure crept slowly through the enfolding gloom of the fog, the heavy air twisting and bending away from his seemingly-frail body. A wolf-cry howled through the air, causing the old man to shudder with hesitance. He had felt a familiar presence in the air around Cascentra as of late - one of darkness, and powerful. More powerful than before, the old mage noted. Using his stave to carry him along the ground, he waved his free left hand to allow the fog to clear slightly, showing a wounded hell hound laying down across the dew-ridden grass, odd-coloured blood pooling around her chest, and a stout figure wielding two blades. The wizard's suspicions were confirmed.
"Amaji, I am glad to see you embrace these lands once more," Boliko called out, a small smile spreading across his lips. He knew full well that the mixed-elf despised his manflesh, but what would come of being friendly once in a while? He stood up tall, his full six feet being supported by his white ornate staff. His grey hues observed the elf for a moment, before looking upwards. More hell-hounds were on the way.

The Black Maji’s eyes drifted over to the other wizard. Amaji gave a slight frown, letting out a sigh. He should have only expected the White Maji to come across him at some point. Why not tonight? Why not the night that a hell hound would lash out at him?
Amaji stepped over to the now slaughtered hell hound and wiped his blades upon the fur of her back. He gave a glance over in the direction of where more hell hounds were making their way to them.
“Only you would be glad of such a thing,” Amaji said bitterly to Boliko. “Vyktor, go. I shall call to you when you are required once more.” Seeming to understand, the black stallion backed off and galloped away from the scene with elegance and speed.
“Are you going to help out, old man, or are you going to hinder my fighting abilities?”

Boliko laughed at Amaji, throwing down his grey cloak and hat and revealing his white robes. He placed his right hand on his scabbard and drew his large mythril sword, which glistened in the cold night air from the light of the moon. With a swirl of his right hand, the fog faded into the grass, revealing the pack of hounds - five remained, furious at the death of their leader.
Boliko moved to the side of one as it leapt at him - it came so close that he could smell the stench of rotten meat on the beast's breath. He sliced down hard with his sword, beheading the foul creature. As another began to circle the elderly man, he placed both of his hands on his sword and pointed them at the beast. His hands began to glow blue, and he channelled a small part of his energy into a large bolt of electricity which flew from the tip of his sword, frying the fell dog.
As a third approached, Boliko sighed. This would be a long night.

“No reason to be flashy, old man,” Amaji said as he darted forward, and in two quick movements the hell hound he had advanced upon was sliced in two right down the midsection. Bones had crunched and blood had splattered.
The Black Maji enjoyed the feel of battle. He enjoyed how his rapiers felt in his hands as he sliced up his foes in easy, quick gestures. The wizard was fearless. These hell hounds, though many in number, were just an easy practice for him.
“If you keep flashing lightning bolts, they’ll never stop coming,” the mixed elf said before sending one of his blades horizontally into the mouth of a hell hound. He pulled the rapier through the animal, slicing them in half quite differently than the other beast.

"I thought you'd want to slay some more," Boliko responded to the dark wizard, getting slightly impatient with the bitter mage. "Shouldn't you be taming these things for your own amusement?" The elderly wizard finished coldly, slicing through the third hound and feeling warm blood spray across his face, the hell hound letting out a final cry of indignation as it's liquid spilled out across the ground. Almost comically, it's dark tongue lolled out from behind it's jaws, touching the blood-stained grass. Whenever he saw the Black Maji, his respect diminished for the dark arts, simply because he thought of magic is simply a means to destroy or maim, not as a force of creation and nature.
The final howl of the hellish wolve was greeted by another, from about a mile enough - another pack would reach them within ten minutes if they stayed still.
Boliko didn't wish to slay yet more animals. But he wasn't going to leave Amaji, though he knew that the dark wizard could handle himself. He didn't trust the fellow - he never had - and wasn't going to leave him be... at least, yet.

“I could easily tame such creatures. Would you rather have that, Boliko? Me tame these hell hounds and sick them upon you? It is quite doable, White Maji as you know.”
Amaji had no patience for the other wizard at the moment. He did not want these hell hounds to continue coming. It was bad enough having to tell Vyktor to run off. Now, the Black Maji would have to track the stallion down, but at least he knew the horse would be safe.
“Knowing you, you have no wish to kill these beasts anymore,” Amaji said as he cleaned off his blades once more before sheathing them. “I have better things to do with my night instead of dealing with hell hounds and that mouth of yours.”
The Black Maji moved around the dead hell hounds, scanning the surroundings for his black horse. He cared for the creatures of the wild, yes, but he did not allow the bigger beasts try to kill him. He had made his mark on quite a few of the creatures of Yviex when needed to, but he had no taste to stay here and continue to kill off hell hound packs.

"I shall imagine you have already tamed some of these creatures, and plan to unleash them on the free men of Yviex quite soon..." The elderly Maji murmured. "In any case, if you 'sicked' them on me you would be wasting some highly adorable company," He said sarcastically, glancing around at the dead dogs. He wiped his sword and face free of wolf blood, before sheathing his weapon and looking around.
"So, what brings you here, Amaji of the dark?" He said, accusingly. He had reason to be suspicious, after all, the races of Yviex, after centuries of peace, had began to argue again, making his kingdom of Temarra a war zone once more - after all, every race of Yviex was allowed in, so such was inevitable with the present conflict. Nonetheless, it annoyed the elderly wizard as it would annoy any king - innocent blood being spilled across your lands, and no reason why? Quite impossible, and yet no reason immediately came to mind, even for the wise magician.

Amaji narrowed his eyes slightly at Boliko’s constant tone. This was why he could not stand those of the surface. He was constantly being accused even when he was not up to anything. The Black Maji had simply been traveling across the Moditant Plains and now he was getting harassed by the White Maji. What had Amaji done? Nothing.
“I am meeting with those of my trade and art, as if it even matters to you,” the mixed elf spat, glaring. “Why are you out here? To stalk and be absolutely rude to me, Boliko? I do not appreciate your words or your tone, old man.”
The wizard moved around the other, whistling to see where Vyktor had gone off to. The horse was much more important to Amaji than Boliko ever would be.

Boliko sighed, returning slighty to his normal, frail stature. I mean, obviously, I'm FAR more rude than you, the old man thought sarcasticly. On every occasion in the past thousand years when he had tried to befriend the darned elf, he had been constantly abused, mostly verbally. "I recall, Amaji, your being rude to me over the last thousand years being more constant than myself, whom also happens to be younger than thyself. Unfortunately I didn't have the luck to be born of elven heritage, and won't stay eternally young," He finished, scratching his grey beard.
"I'll leave you be as it appears you, once again, have the wrong idea. If you find out what is causing these disturbances between the races, well, I doubt you'll tell anyone but yourself, but nonetheless..." The old wizard sighed, before turning away, and with a flick of his hand the white cloak he had discarded to the floor was back over his shoulders.
"Hopefully we'll meet again soon, under... friendlier circumstances," He said, with a glance backwards.

Amaji glared at Boliko, his temper flaring. The Black Maji would not allow his temper to get out of control, though. Everyone from the surface was more or less the same. They all did not understand how to treat those of the Underdark, which was exactly why the wizard could not stand or trust anyone from these lands.
“I highly doubt that will ever happen, Boliko,” Amaji said, spitting out the White Maji’s name. “Be glad that I tire of your presence and do not feel like even looking at you anymore at the moment.”
The mixed elf glared, whistling once more. His black stallion, Vyktor can pounding back to Amaji. “Perhaps, if you surface beings would learn some manners and respect to those who do not live on the surface, I would learn to be ‘friendly’ to you.”

"Please, Amaji, I deeply respect those of the Underdark, you know this well enough. I truly wish my peers did too, we could learn so much from each other... However, grudge's seem to hold for thousands of years, on both sides," Boliko sighed, turning away from the dark sorcerer and resting his white staff on the ground, his elderly eyes feeled with a sadness. He could recall the lore of the Drow; they had been forced underground by their kin, the Moon and Forest elves, because they were darker skinned.
Howls filled the air; the hell hounds were within two minutes running distance of them. The white wizard could already see glistening red hues glinting in the darkness, circling them. "I guess we should be going," The elderly wizard said, humouring the black Maji.
