Yviex was created by the gods and goddesses. There are different tales of the creation of the world with every different race and culture. The one fact shared by every race on the land is that the ancients hold the truths to how the world was created. Many seek out the ancients for the real story of how the world was created and why, but the ancients have never shared the full story and probably never will.
The ancients do explain that there were gods and goddesses that specialize in many different elements and abilities, and that these gods and goddesses left it up to the ancients to look over the land. The ancients were the ones who gave the people life. The ancients were given their powers by the gods and goddesses.
The Peoples’ Way of Life:
Yviex is a rather old world. Many characteristics of the world are still set from the beginning of time. The world still has many natural beauties. The people of Yviex tend to take very good care of their mother earth. There are only a few areas that have been changed to accommodate the races of the world and that are the main cities of Yviex.
The people are stuck in their medieval ways by choice. Most people of Yviex fear that changing to more practical and easier ways of life will slowly destroy the planet. They use natural, reusable resources like wood to help with their daily lives.
People fear that if they start to change the world that the gods and goddesses who create the world will become angry with them. The people believe that the creators wanted the world to stay as pure as possible, so many go out of their way to keep the world clean.
Money:
The people of Yviex use coins for a source of money. There are three different types of coins: gold, silver, and copper. Gold coins hold the highest value followed by silver coins and then copper coins. All coins look the same no matter where they come from.
Trade:
Nations trade with other nations for resources like fish, gems, crops, medicine, and other necessities. There are several trade routes throughout Yviex where caravans travel daily to get goods to other territories.
Trade does not just occur between nations. People who have not acquired money are able to swap goods with merchants for food and other supplies.
Transportation:
There are a handful of transportation methods in Yviex. Many simply get around on foot. Horses are used in many places in the world. Horses are many used to travel through the plains, though, but it is not unheard of to see someone travel by horse over the desert. Traditional boats are mainly used for traveling over the ocean, but smaller boats are used through the swampland. There are sandboats that are used for easy travel over the desert. Sandboats use the wind to travel.
Communication:
If someone from afar must be contacted, the easiest way to contact that person is to send a messenger of some sort. Many people of Yviex use messenger hawks to send letters all over the world.
Language:
The main language of Yviex is one that was passed down from the ancients to all of the races. The main language goes by the name of Yvy. Yvy resembles what the people of Earth would call Old English.
There are other languages that are spoken in Yviex, but those are languages that are practiced among certain races. For instance, elves speak Elvish among themselves. There is also the Language of the Dead that is spoken by the necromancers when they speak to the dead.
Literature:
There is one international writing style known to every race and that is the Kcheiv. All species are taught how to write in this form, making communication between nations much easier.
Protection:
Throughout the cities of Yviex, there are always guards on duty. Guards protect the cities from invasions. They also protect the people from criminals.
The people of Yviex also carry weapons upon them for protection. There is no law against carrying dangerous gear. In case of being attacked, ever person has the right to a weapon.
