Cecilia paused, tilting her head to the side as she listened to the slight breeze that moved through the trees. She had left her brother and made haste back in one of the directions they'd traveled, her sense of direction never failing her as she moved farther away from her brother and deeper into the forest.
The blind twin knew that her brother may try searching for her but she hoped he wouldn't, she wanted him to have a life without constantly watching over her, like she sensed he felt he was obligated to do. She sighed as she place a hand on one of the trees, following the path with slow but steady movements. She didn't have her brother here to guide her and she could easily trip and fall over something unseen.
Which she did just then, falling over a tree root that was sticking up above the ground. She put her hands out, catching herself and scraping up her palms a bit. Cecilia felt hot tears pricking at her eyes, not because of the scrapes, but because she felt so utterly helpless without her brother. She had a sudden urge to turn around, go back to him and tell him she was sorry, she'd never do it again.
The blind halfbreed shook it away, pushing herself up off the ground and kept going, farther away from her brother and deeper into the forest, taking herself from being protected to vulnerable with each step she took.

The day was a rather lazy one. The air in the forest was warm. Birds could be heard chirping through the trees. Off in the distance, the running water of a stream could be heard. It was just another quiet day in the woods where animals could come out without any worry.
Tier loved these types of days. He loved coming out into the forest and finding a tree to lay in and watch the wildlife from afar in either his human form or in the form of some sort of beast.
Today the animagus was seated upon a big branch. He was sitting back against the trunk of this great tree. He was rather relaxed and even close to dozing off like he usually did. He was never afraid of falling off of the branch. He was very skilled in being balanced. Being balanced seemed to come with the territory of shifting forms of animals. Tier had the chance of morphing into some of the most graceful and elegant creatures the world had to offer.
Tier was even dressed comfortably for his napping out in the forest. He was wearing his boots and a pair of loose fabric pants. There was no shirt to be seen. The animagus preferred to not wear shirts unless he really had to, especially in the warmth of this summer day. His daggers were hanging from a branch within reach of him.
The animagus’s eyes were slowly closing when he heard the thud of someone hitting the ground below him. He quickly straightened up and looked down to see who had fallen. He saw the girl below who had fallen. She got back up to her feet and continued on her way. Tier could tell, though, that there was something wrong. There was something upsetting her.
Tier grabbed his daggers and quickly made his way down the tree. He did not want to startle her by walking up behind her. He thought for a moment before calling out to the girl.
“Good morrow, dear lady,” he called out to her before starting after her. “Are you alright? I saw your fall.”

Cecilia turned her head towards the voice, eyes settling somewhere near where he was but she could only guess at how tall he was and if he had good intentions. "I'm alright, thank you," she murmured quietly as she stood there, waiting.
She could tell he hadn't been on the path behind her, she didn't recognize the sound of his gait so he was a complete stranger to her. She could only hope he meant her no harm as she really had no true way of defending herself. Well, she could bite him, but that never made her happy. Cecilia hated inflicting pain on others, much preferring to stop confrontation all together.
She pushed a strand of hair off her face and tucked it behind her ear, using the scrap of cloth she normally wore around her eyes to tie her hair back.

Tier observed Cecilia, taking note of how her eyes really did not focus on him. He could tell that she was blind almost instantly, which would explain her fall and how indirectly she talked to him.
“I mean you no harm,” he told her with a slight smile. “I am not a threat to you at all. You should have no worries about my intentions.” He thought for a moment. “You do seem lost, though. Perhaps, I could help you find your way. I have spent a very good portion of my life in this forest, and I know my way around almost better than the ones who breathed life into this place.”
The animagus was a very kind and gentle being. He wanted nothing more than to help out all that he could. He more than likely would not allow her to turn down his help.

Cecilia shook her head, a small frown creasing her lips before she turned away from him. "I can manage on my own, thank you," she said. Her mind automatically memorized his voice and speech pattern as well as his gait. She hoped he would let her go, she didn't like being a burden on people and she felt she'd been a burden on her twin long enough.
She began walking again, careful as she paid attention to the ground beneath her feet and the minor depressions, coming back to when the twins had been in the Underdark. Her abilities had saved them then, she could navigate those tunnels and now they were coming back, she listened to the slightest echoes that were almost impossible to discern on the surface.

“I insist that I help you, though,” Tier said, following after the girl. “The woods can be a rather dangerous place. There are creatures here who move without creating even the slightest noise. Let me be your guide. There is nothing you have to prove by strictly depending on yourself. Please, just let me be your eyes for this day. It would make me feel better than allowing you to wander around on your own.”
He caught out to the girl, gently touching her arm. He wanted her to trust him enough to allow him to navigate her through the trees.

Cecilia instinctively shied away from the touch. He was unfamiliar and she distrusted unfamiliar things that her brother did not show her. Although now she would have to learn to trust things on her own. His words gave her pause, how could she trust him not to take advantage of her?
Cecilia usually had good instincts about people, but her brother was normally around to validate those. Suddenly, the urge to go back to her brother was there and she bit her lip, a single tear falling down her face as she thought of the panic her brother must be in. Hopefully he wouldn't look for her and would be able to move on to his own life.
"I can manage," she said. "I made it through the Underdark, and there is nothing that quiet on the surface," she said patiently.

Tier raised an eyebrow at this girl’s persistence at taking care of herself without anyone’s help. She needed someone to guide her. There was no doubt in his mind about that. She was lost in the forest. She also seemed like she had never been off on her own before. This blind girl was very disorientated and upset.
“You have apparently not encountered all of the creatures on the surface,” the animagus said. “There are things that can go unheard of, and they are not just animals. Plants can be unforgiving and silent as well, as you seemed to have already found out.”

"Why are you so keen on trying to help me?" she asked at last, suspicion rising in her as she stopped walking and crossed her arms over her stomach. Apparently he had never survived the Underdark nor the Black Market. They came from two entirely different worlds and Cecilia didn't trust this world.
She pulled the tail of her hair over her shoulder and toyed with it, a nervous habit that she had developed once on the surface and one that her brother could spot in an instant. He would make her feel better if he could and all she wanted was to be safe again, but she had to work for it on her own.

“Because I enjoy helping those who need help,” Tier told her simply. “I know that you are lost and have not really been through the forest that many times. I can just tell. There is no reason for you to be foolish and try to get through an unknown place alone when there are dangers you have not encountered before.”
Tier had found many people who had gotten lost in the trees and had gotten themselves in many terrible circumstances. He would rather not have to save this blind girl from one of the greater beasts of the forest.
“I mean you no harm, I swear. I will even give you my daggers if that will make you feel a bit safer.”

"Yes, giving the blind girl a weapon will be the best thing," she said, at her wit's end. "Especially when it will be more likely I'll hurt myself with it than anything else," she said as she crossed her arms, now outwardly annoyed.
Cecilia hated being alone and was inside sincerely grateful that someone was willing to help her and didn't want anything else from her. So far she'd managed to avoid getting into trouble but she didn't want to know when her luck would run out. That was something she didn't quite know how to handle.

Tier gave a slight laugh and a shake of his head. “My daggers are in their sheaths. The only way you would be able to hurt yourself with them is if you took them out. You could probably learn to use a weapon, though. Being blind only hinders your sight. You do not need sight to be able to protect yourself. Not to mention in a battle, your sight can fool you. You are better off relying on your other senses.”
He thought for another moment. “What would get you to trust me enough to lead you through the woods?”

"It seems I don't have much of a choice since you want to help me, you'll just continue to follow me," she pointed out, her patience coming back to her. She bit her lip for a moment thinking.
"Let me see your face," she said. It was her way of being able to tell what a person really wanted. When she touched someone, she could see into their future as well, getting a sense of the type of person they were and that was her other goal, letting him think what he would about her words and goals.

“I can allow that,” Tier said with a smile. The animagus stepped a bit closer to Cecilia, taking her hands gently. He moved them up to his face before letting them go and allowing her to do as she wished. He placed his hands to his back, patiently waiting for the girl to feel his facial features.
Tier could not help but to smile. He had met blind people over the years and few had wanted to see what he looked like. He did not mind this at all. If it helped her to see, then he encourage the behavior.

There was a slight rise in the magick around her, she got glimpses of different forms, telling her he was not human. However, the sights she saw only confused her and she frowned slightly biting her lower lip as she moved butterfly fingers over his face, barely touching the skin but registering he was tall, perhaps taller than her brother.
She'd had to reach up and stand on tip-toe but she could tell he really didn't mean her any harm however, what he was confused her a lot, she couldn't make sense of what she saw from him. "What are you?" she breathed, the only indication of her curiosity before she shook her head and took her hands back.
"I am Cecilia, or at least that was the name given to me," she said.

Tier gave a slight smile as her curiosity fluttered over her face. “Well, it is nice to meet you, Cecilia. I am Tier.” He debated for a moment on whether or not to tell her what he was exactly. “I am an animagus. I can shift into the form of every creature imaginable. You seemed to have picked up on that, have you not?”
His eyes glanced around for a moment. “I am sorry if I confused you, but now I must ask. How can you tell that I am not human? You apparently have your own ways.”

Cecilia shifted, biting her lip as sightless eyes drifted down and she hung her head. She was a bit uncomfortable explaining how she could do something but would let him assume that she was also human for the time being. "When I touched your face I got glimpses of your future and they didn't make sense," she admitted, a light splash of color rising to her cheeks.
She knew she shouldn't be so outspoken with her curiosity, but she couldn't help it. She had always been curious but knew how to curb her curiosity in the Underdark and once she and Celestine had made their way to the surface, he'd let her explore areas he knew were safe. "I'm sorry," she said, hanging her head like a small child.

He gave a slight smile, shaking his head slightly. “So, you can see into the future a bit? Or at least my future? I can understand how that would be confusing since I do change forms quite a bit. It is rare that I am in the same form for long periods of time.”
Tier thought for a moment. “There is no reason to be sorry either. You have a real talent, an art. There is no reason to be apologetic for it. Plus, you should be using it to figure out those around you. There is never a time where you can be too careful.”

Cecilia started to say something then stopped, thinking better of it for the time being. "It involves me touching someone and I don't get a chance to decide what it is I'll see. If I can't even fight, what hope do I have if I have to get in close to someone for it to even work?" she asked as she tilted her head to the side, closing her useless eyes and listening to the things around her.
There was something moving in the brush to their left and she instinctively took a step away from it, to the middle of the path. She didn't know what it was, except that it was large and heavy despite the quiet with which it moved.

Tier thought for a moment. “Well, you can always advance your skills, you know. There is always reason to try to make your abilities stronger, and there is probably a way to do it. I could help you find someone that might be able to strengthen your magicks and all.”
The animagus ran a hand through his hair. He studied Cecilia’s demeanor. “You know, it is never wise to show any fear around any sort of animal,” he told her. “They pick up on that easily and use your fear against you. Just take a breath and let it out slowly. Calm yourself.”
