The day was slowly drawing to an end. The sun had reached the horizon and had started to descend completely from view. The day creatures of the forest had started to go to their resting place for the night while the night creatures had just started to come out.
Zyabeth Forest was beautiful no matter if it was seen during the day or at night. Many discouraged travel through the woods at night, though. The more dangerous creatures came out once the sun sets.
Levidrona was not afraid of any of the creatures in the forest. She had seen greater terrors in some of the other regions of Yviex. She had not chosen to stay in the forest until night on this day, though. This occurred by accident. The thief had come out to the woods during the day to find some peace away from the busy city of Temarra. Going to the Zyabeth Forest was quite a journey on foot, but it was well worth it.
Levi looked around her at the trees that towered above her. She had lost her way which was why she was still out in the forest as the sun was setting. The young thief seemed to always be getting lost in these trees, but not having the daylight made matters worse.
The human walked through the brush, getting annoyed every time her clothes would get snagged up on branches. She passed by a low tree and the fabric of her pants got caught up in the branches.
“Damn it,” she cursed as she tried to get herself free.

The dryad tilted her head to the side as her owl companion flew to her shoulder, hooting softly and then taking off, leading her to the struggling human thief. Xantara tilted her head to the side, observing the human for a moment before sighing and stepping out.
Brilliant green eyes seemed to glow in the darkening twilight as she pushed her hood off and moved the folds of her cape off her shoulders to trail down her back. "Do you need help?" Xan asked as she stopped a few paces in front of the human. Her owl companion took the time to silently come back and perch on her shoulder, hooting softly as Xan raised a hand to stroke the downy feathers on his breast.

Levi let out a surprised scream, unable to stop herself. This stranger had frightened the human. “No, I’m fine,” she said quickly giving a quick tug on her pants and freed them from the branch. The fabric tore opened where they had been snagged upon the low tree, leaving a hole that exposed part of her leg.
“I am fine, really. I don’t need any help.” Levidrona was one to try to seem as fine as possible even if she was hurt or lost or in trouble. “I was just headed home,” she said before taking a step forward and pausing.

"You make your home deep inside the forest?" Xantara asked, clearly amused. She knew the human was lost and it was a bit surprising to anyone when the dryad appeared out of seemingly no where and offered help. Sighing she motioned for the girl to turn around and begin walking. "If you want out of the forest, which you clearly do, let me help you. I am Xantara, a Ranger," she said with a smile as she moved through the brush easily, as if the plants were alive and moving out of the dryad's way to let her pass.

The girl let out a slow sigh. “Well, alright then. I guess I shall accept your help, but not because I need it. I just wouldn’t want to be rude is all.” Levidrona got back her bearings and started to follow Xantara through the brush. “You can call me Levi, by the way.”
The thief was not the most graceful creature. She could not walk as the dryad walked. She stumbled quite a bit over the branches and roots of the trees. She tried to appear to know where she was going and to appear graceful but she failed at both.

"It is nice to meet you, Levi," the dryad said, amusement through her features as she led the way, turning a feigned ignorance to the human. "Where exactly do you live? I have not seen you in the forest before?" she said with a slight laugh as she paused and held a branch out of the way for the stumbling thief.
Sighing, she tilted her head back and looked up, judging how much time they had left before the sun completely disappeared. "You have a little over an hour before the sun disappears completely. Can you make it to your home by then?"

“I’m not sure exactly if we can make it there before the sun completely sets. I live in the city of Temarra more or less. That is where I spend most of my time, so I suppose it would be considered my home.”
Levidrona continued to trudge on behind the dryad, stumbling over branches still. “I came out here during the day to enjoy some time in nature and now I find myself out here after dark. But oh well. The forest is beautiful in the day and in the night. So, either way I can’t complain too much.”

Xantara nodded, an amused smile on her lips as she led the human to the path finally. "That would be until you get eaten by some of the nastier creatures here," she said with a light laugh and a smile. "Here is the path. Would you like for me to accompany you to the entrance?"
The dryad would not just abandon her of course, she'd trail her from the trees, watching over her until she was out of the forest and maybe until she was home in Temarra to make sure nothing bad happened to the the young human girl.

“I suppose you could accompany me along the path. That is all up to you, though. I think I could manage it alone.” In all reality, Levidrona would not mind the company. She knew she could handle a good portion of the creatures out in the forest, but she knew some of them could crush her.
“If you have something better to do, you don’t have to follow me out of the forest. I mean I can handle myself and all.” Levi stretched out her arms over her chest before stretching out her legs. “Feel free to leave.”

Xantara laughed lightly, shaking her head as the owl launched from her shoulder to hunt in the darker trees. "It would be most unfitting of me as a Ranger to just abandon you in the forest, after I have gotten you half way to safety. But come, let's go before it gets any darker. There should be no more tree roots in the way now," she said as her eyes flashed a brilliant green and several roots vanished back into the soil from where they had been encroaching up on the path.
"It is not far, but it will take a bit of walking to get to the entrance and then off to your home, Levi," Xan said. "So I suggest you make haste unless you want to be caught in the dark," she said with a light laugh.
