Morpheus is his true name. He'll kill you if you call him any variation of that name. But he also goes by Jackal, Dream, Khan, Levitange, Jarlaxle, and dozens of other names.

He is in the midway group of djinn but he has incredible power, lending him to being one of the hardest to summon and control to this plane.

Abilities:

Shapeshift to assume any guise of anything on this plane, drifting back and forth between planes. His powers are also incredible, lending him to be able to any number of otherwise impossible tasks.

Companions:

A large black Crow that often heralds his arrivals. The Crow is particularly vicious to those that assume he is a normal bird, baring fang-like teeth that no bird should have.

Occupation:

He's a genie. He really doesn't have one unless assigned one by a master.

Morpheus assumes many guises. There are two that he uses most often when he comes out of a summoning:

These are used mostly for intimidation purposes and to force the summoner to trip up, so to speak.

Personality:

Morpheus, like most djinn, is grumpy and violent when summoned and often tries to force his master to trip up so he can kill them. The djinn are often forced to endure cruel masters and few ever are kind to them. The human form that he so often assumes was a particularly kind master who, on his deathbed, summoned Morpheus and freed him from ever being summoned again, thus earning the greatest respect a djinn could bestow: ensuring their form will live on forever.

If Morpheus is particularly feeling like it, he can be charming, witty, funny and downright patient. These moods do not come often and he is not above informing those much, much younger than he that they are and telling them to "shut up", or so to speak. He has been through much of the shaping of this world and some of the biggest accomplishments by buildings are done with him. Vuex Castle? He over saw the building. Castle Faratu? Yup, he was there. Ixvix Castle? Check. He remembers things that no one else does.

History:

Morpheus is over 40,000 years old and not afraid to tell. He was involved in most of the major construction of the important cities and has refused to do anymore with them, seeing as most of the supposed 'gargoyles' and walls are really being held up by trapped djinn who were enslaved by cruel and evil masters. Morpheus was realease around 20,000 years ago by a particularly kind master who kept him as a companion and not a slave. For this Morpheus was grateful and told the wizard what he desired to know. Once the ancient wizard was on his deathbed, he summoned Morpheus to his side and bestowed a charm on him, thereby preventing him from ever being summoned again and striking his true name from any books with it. He is known to most of the magick world as "Jarlaxle" which is the name of the ancient wizard whose form he takes on in this world.

Morpheus has spent time on this plane, drifting back and forth, periodically messing up wars and other things when he sees fit, pretending to take orders only to turn back on the issuer and killing them.
