It was the year 1600. Throughout the land of Virale, peace reigned supreme and the races all lived in perfect equilibrium. Ogres were able to live with Elves, and Humans were able to coexist with the Draconis. The Elves inhabited the northern lands of Rivengaud and the southern forests of Erill. Shen Anrath was the homeland for the Draconis, a species of half-men, half-dragons. The Dwarves called Jimroar their own, and made their homes in the mountain sides. Nyria was the home to the High Elves, the sorcerers of the land. Larin was home to the Humans, the center of civilization itself. In the craigs of Alarunde lived the goblins, orcs, and ogres, vicious savages that were able to keep peace with the neighboring Humans. The marshes of M’Doun was inhabited by the Lizardfolk, and other aquatic humanoids. Samaeral was the prison-esque home to the Grimjars, a sadistic tribe of maniacal daemons. Valaen was left uninhabited, due to the ferocious and violent wild-life that lived there.
There were a number of races who were much smaller in size. Although these races did not have a “homeland” to call their own, they were all able to inhabit Tall as a collective community. Tall was the only land in which there was no formal judicial system. Each of the other lands all had some sort of alliance in place to prevent the threat of war from harming their people. It seemed like life would be perfect until the end of time…
However, all was not meant to last. On the outskirts of Larin and Tall, a massive meteorite crashed into Virale. This site was later named Kaero Saul. The Human king sent the majority of his army out to investigate the crash site, only to have them all infected with a strange virus. Their hair began to fall out, and their flesh began to rot and decay. They also lost their sense of touch, and were void of emotions. These chaotic beings came to be known as the Korde. The rulers of the land all banded together to destroy the Korde, but for every Kordian they killed, two more soldiers became infected. The battle raged on until almost the entire world was engulfed.
The year is now 1725. The Korde has been vanquished, and society’s numbers are much smaller than they were 125 years ago. The royalty of the land has all been killed, and thus there is no formal judicial system in the land. There is still an orcish settlement in Alarunde, and an elvish fortress in Rivengaud. In Nyria the Bastion of Shaohad, a massive High Elvian castle, remaing in near perfect condition (the High Elves did not assist in the war againt the Korde, choosing instead to defend their homeland.)
The world is ruled by the sword and those with strong enough arms to wield them. Raiders travel the land, stealing what they want and killing whom they please. However, a call has been sent out across the land. Someone wishes to travel to Valaen, which remained untouched by the Korde. You’ve received the message…
Will you meet this man in the abandoned Human capital? Will you travel the world, seeking fame and fortune? Or will you try and unite Virale under your hand, bringing peace back to the land?
It’s up to you. This is your world.
