Azrael °°°°°°°°°°°° Glowing, sky blue eyes looked up at the looming full moon that hung in the sky above the dim lit street where she chose to roam. Looking through the glare of the glowing wasn't that difficult but she had to learn that. A smile played on her lips as she thought of the first time she freaked about the glare.
----
"Mama! Daddy!" a five year old Azrael cried, looking around like a blind bat. "Yes Azzie baby, what is it?' Her mother calmly stated rushing at her daughter's side. Patting her on the back as her father landed on her other side. Azrael looked at her mother with tears streaming down her face, before looking at her father as he burst into laughter. "Joelon, what's so funny?" Her mother said in a raised voice slightly mad at his laughing. "Gaylyn, think about it" Her father said between laughs. "Her eyes are glowing" Gaylyn looked at her husband confused before fighting back giggles, "Oh, Azzie Baby, the glow glare" Azrael looked at her mother with tears streaking her cheeks, and a light blue cloud. "glare?" Her mother smiled whipping her tears away before replying to her confused daughter, "Yes, Your eyes are glowing because of the mix of our species, you have to learn to look through the glare and you will be able to see fine"
---
Her memory faded into a dark abyss that took her mind, as a small heat came to her shoulder. Her glowing eyes opened to look at her fiery companion that rested on her shoulder. 'Memories, my dear? Celosia's words rang through her head. "Yes, Celie" her voice rang through the quieted streets as she found a small bench to sit on. 'Ah, what are we doing her again?' his voice came once more before quieting just to look around. Her dragon wings shifted against her back to make her sitting position slightly more comfortably. Azrael shook her head as her answer to him, for she really didn't know why she was here, probably bordum of her old home. And hey maybe she will meet new friends, and make more money in the city.
Her hands brushed a few wild blue strands out of her face, grinning as she looked at her attire. A long white skirt flowed like a waterfall over her toned legs covering her sandal covered feet. Her shirt wasn't really a shirt more of a bra like clothe. A black in color it covered her breasts and part of the reason below, but not much. Showing off her sharp curves and even the markings that covered her skin from being a half breed. A small trickle of music came from one of the far houses making her smile grow wider, as she began to sing with the melody. Her voice echoed with in the empty streets, causing anyone near by to look for the source of the beautiful sound.[/blockquote] Status: This Forum topic is now closed for Menelaus word count: 494 muse: Quite fine notes: First post, woot!

The cool night breeze washed over him in a midnight blue, night was the time Menelaus prefered to walk the city streets. It was his time to relax, to contimplate, his time to just get away. Every night when he left his study he would find an admiring scholar or young wizard who would beg to be allowd to accompany him on one of his strolls. He always turned them down with a polite smile and a shake of his head.
His night walks weren't what they suspected them to be anyway. They assumed he was out developing new magics, new ways to apply old. And he was sure some suspected him to be using these times to slip between the realms. They were all wrong, he was simply out and about to get away from everything. He had been home in Temarra for nearly a standard month now, and every night it was the same routine, some young hopeful wanting the inside look. Power hungry, the lot of them. Yet if they had the power, they wouldn't know what to do with it. It sickened him somtimes.
Sure he loved his magic, he would never let it go, but he didn't ask for his gift. He would have been long since dead several millinia ago but he would have died a happy human. Maybe with a wife, children, and maybe even grandchildren. He hadn't asked to burn his family alive, but he did. He didn't blame himself. he long since grew out of that. He knew what he did he couldn't control and through his research he came to discover it only came out as a natural fight or flight defense. Misdirected as it was, he didn't blame himself for it.
It had been a long time since he thought on how his family died that night, it had been atleast a hundred years or so since he truly thought on it. Having lived several millinia it became easy to shut out what you didn't want to think about. But even then, it didn't make it go away, just put a lid on a jar and shoved into the back of the cupboard and forgotten. Always there though.
The world around him was asleep, they had tucked away their daily affairs in a pillow and laid their heads down to rest upon them. All wrapped up in a blanket of dreams they slumbered on a bed of night. He would have to remember to write that down when he returned to his journal, he rather liked how that sounded.
The world was asleep and quiet. Nothing seemed to be stirring and he found himself wandering the back alleys and side streets absent mindedly he really wasn't paying attention to where he was going, his mind was wrapped up in his own thoughts. He paused next a flower shop, he needed to relax.
He didn't come out here tonight to reflect on the political machinizations of local governments, and the petty backstabbing beuracracies that had set themselves up around the regions these days. He wanted to be seperate from them, he didn't want anything to do with backroom politics. It seemed to him he was affronted daily with another offer of gold, silver, precious gems. He had been offered the world before. All for the petty social ladder climbing that society attempted. Then again, could he really blame them, some would not be remembered, they were all trying to set their name in stone. They wanted that comfort that when they were gone, someone would remember their name, their face, their deeds.
Menelaus knew he had already struck his name in stone, he was the Fire Maji after all. Fate conspired in odd ways some times. When he was but a boy he never expected to be anything more than a merchant at best. He never even expected to make a name for himself outside of his small village. But when the world changed around you, you always couldn't control what happened. He was lucky to have escaped with his head all in one peace.
standing alone near the flower shop he leaned against a wall, he didn't have to be the Fire Maji here, he could be himself. Right now he could just be Menelaus and that's all he wanted to do was be himself.
Menelaus slumped to the brickstreet beneath him with a less then audible thud and began a simple meditative exorcise that he had first learned so long ago to help control the magical fury that dwelled inside him.
He formed a small flickering flame in his hand and let it grow untill it ungulfed his palm and fingers in a glove of fire. It danced across his fingertips and lit up his narrow face. He wasn't unattractive, but through years of study he no longer felt the need to gorge himself on unnessecary amounts of food. He kept himself lean and muscular now. working fire magic was not the easiest task in the world, you needed to be fit, physically and mentally. Using that wild magic was like a battle in itself, a constant tug of war. If you were too weak to weild it, it would consume you. Now it came like second nature to him.
It was no longer an enemy that needed to be controlled to be put to use, but a stubborn friend that just needed a prodding in a right direction.
Menelaus smiled as he allowd the flames to slip from his hands and extinguish themselves on the pavement. He was content, that exorcise always relaxed him.
staring up at the sky he realized he wasn't alone anymore, a sound had sprung up around him. The sound gradually became a voice, and the voice was singing. Turning his head gradually he looked up and down the street to see a beautiful bluish creature walking towrd him. She was glowing, and she was dressed in somthing that made him feel overdressed. He nearly felt the need to look away, but he didn't.
He didn't have to be the Fire Maji tonight, he could just be himself. He watched her passively as she approached and he began letting his fire dance between his fingers again lighting his face and part of the street around him.

Azrael °°°°°°°°°°°° The world was silently asleep around her, as she continued her walk through the darkened streets. Glowing, sky blue eyes blinked at the annoying glow, only to focus on someone before her companion and herself. She watched as in his hand a fire played amongst his finger tips, amused by the sight, her wondrous singing had come to a silence. The phoenix by her spoke with the darkness of her mind, ”be careful, don’t be to trusting” but the half breed simply shook her head, it was in her nature to be trusting. Although it has got her into a lot of trouble, but that’s the price you pay being a half daemon mix breed.
The white skirt that cascaded down her legs, although her right thigh was revealed thanks to the encounter in the market, the rip went to all the way up to her hip, letting in a cold breeze. Again focusing on the man that seem to be some sort of powerful wizard, made her feel underdressed by how much clothing he seemed to have put on for the evening. ”You know, it’s a beautiful night. So I ask why are you spending it out her alone?” her voice had the edge only an angelic’s voice would give off, but clearly that was not her race, this man intrigued her, maybe she would make a friend.[/blockquote] Status: This Forum topic is now closed for Menelaus word count: muse: Quite fine notes: sorry its short

Menelaus watched her approach through the flames on her fingertips and let them vanish as she approached. He was never truly alone anywhere, his element was all the company he needed at times. Especially with the drag of every day political inquires. He desperately needed to escape the city before he got more embedded in the drudging political quagmire. This creature though, might suffice for a distraction.
"A beautiful night it is mi'lady," He said with a smile pushing himself up from the ground, "I tend to spend most of my nights alone,"
It was the honest truth, his nights were spent in isolation for the most part. Mainly because he tired of dealing with people during the day. He was the fire Maji, and not enough happened that required his full talents as it was. So he was stuck cleaning up political circles most of the time. If he knew that this would be his life then he might have passed on the offer. His power would be no less. A title was just a word after all.
He was letting his mind get away with him once again, he didn't have to be the Fire Maji right now. He was just Menelaus right now, and he was being rude.
"My name is Menelaus," he said with a smile, Taking her hand to kiss it gently before releasing it. The half breed truly was a strange looking creature. Beautiful, yet strange.
Rising, "The same question could be asked of you my dear," He smiled, "You would be quite the catch would you fall into the wrong hands."

Azrael °°°°°°°°°°°° The man with the fire spoke when she stopped just a foot or two short from where he had been standing, the fire on his hand went out making the wonder in her eyes die out. Now there was just the faint light of a fire lamp across the street, the glow her eyes gave off, and the light the plump moon was shining down. Yes, what a beautiful night. The phoenix spoke with in her mind, only for the half breed to pull her finger to her lips and shush the bird. Turning her glowing light blue eyes at the man once more, letting her wings flutter slightly.
”Always alone? That’s no fun“ Azrael spoke with disappointment in her voice, ”Then I bet you wouldn’t mind if I make join you?“ Question still tainted her voice even though she knew he wouldn’t mind. The phoenix sat on her shoulder, careful not to let his sharp talons pierce her aqua skin. In reaction the half breed’s aqua wings to shift uncomfortably, to allow the bird to stay where he sat.
Her glowing eyes looking into the man, now known as Menelaus’s eyes. The glow prevented most to read what her emotions portrayed, in the darkness of her mind she looked at him in attraction. He was dressed nicely and even though hairless he was handsome, but she doubted he saw her in the same light. But all she showed was the smile that began to play on her lips as she spoke once more ”It’s a pleasure, Menelaus. My name is Azrael…“ she only paused to adjust her wings once more, making the bird perch on the bench nearest to them. ”A catch, I highly doubt it,…. And I am alone fro the same reason you are, always am” [/blockquote] Status: This Forum topic is closed for Menelaus word count: 305 muse: Regaining strength notes: Finally done

His eyes wandered over the strange creature that spoke to him, he has decided she must be a Nixie Daemon Hybrid. She could have been Nixie Angelic but Angelics were much less likely to mate with another species noting how proud they are. Never the less it didn't really matter what she was. She was beautiful though, he had decided her beauty had surpassed her oddity after a few moments of speaking with her.
"You don't appear too alone, I see you have a fine specimen of phoenix there. My former master had one as well. Very intelligent creatures. A little to crafty for my liking but beautiful none the less,"
Menelaus stopped speaking for a moment as he looked into her eyes, he was getting lost in them he decided. He had to look away before the urge to look closer kicked in. She would be a fascinating study. He shook his head, kicking the thought to the side of the street. He wasn't just a man of knowledge, he was a man. There was no need to study what made this woman run, she had a heart, a soul, and lungs to let her breathe. He didn't need to know anything else.
"What brings you to Temarra, Ma.." He caught himself before finishing madam, "Azreal?"
