Today was the day that Karpuk and Ski'ath would start their new job aboard the Grey Heron. It was a pirate ship, but that did not make the Dwarf shy away from a possibility to make a ton of money. He and Ski'ath had spent several days buying gear they would need aboard the open waters of the Wavtra Ocean. Karpuk had bought himself a brand new harpoon gun and a long, waterproofed coat. After all, he did not want to get too cold aboard the open waters or have his armor rust. He knew the harpoon gun would come in handy if they had come across sea monsters.
Karpuk and Ski'ath had joined the crew when they had pushed off. The two sat quietly on deck observing the crew. He had come to know a few, and studied the rest. As Felshen called for anchor to be lowered, Karpuk stood up.
"C'mon ye' drunkards! Lower the anchor and prepare to go ashore!" he yelled to the crew, in a booming, demanding voice. He knew you had to be commanding with the people you were in charge of. If a leader did not do this, his men would not hold respect for him. He watched as the men rushed to prepare.
Karpuk walked over to Felshen.
"Well Cap'n, of the few ships I have been on, yer's is the best I've seen. Ye' got a good crew here. They listen to me orders," he said in a calm tone to the drunk Elf.

Felshen was drawn from his restless state as the Dwarf spoke. He studied the Dwarf carefully trying to draw up his name, grateful for the distraction.
"Well," He paused as though thinking, "Karpuk isn't it? I'm glad you say so. You take to your duty well, An extra flagon of mead for you this eve. Nothin' like the comfort of the bottle to help you ride out a storm,"
As grateful as he was for the distraction, the gravity of his actions finally took hold. He had kissed Azazealyn, she was most certainly not happy with him. Looking from the corner of his eye he noticed her enter the ships mid-deck, heading to her room. He thought he heard her muttering to herself as she rounded the corner. That couldn't have been good. He had to take care of this situation, but all he could think about was his wife. "Duty, before love." He told himself.
Turning to Karpuk, "You help first mate Beazl keep a hold on the crew. I have an issue to take care of with Azazealyn,"
Above them, the clouds were churning out angry sounds, like a hungry half starved leopard. As much as he wanted to, he was not going to find his wife this night. He had to get a hold of himself. Azazealyn said she was fine, and nearby. After so many years, he wondered how many of those she spent, right under his nose, with him right off the coast of Bellevin.
"Beazl!" Felshen called up into the helm, "get the ship anchored, I want mooring lines tied soon! The storm isn't going to wait for us."
"Aye sir!"
The ship was just arriving in the cove, the cove was large but well sheltered from the wind and waves. The mooring lines were probably overkill, but safety first. He didn't want his baby damaged.
Turning back to Karpuk, he smiled "Karpuk, you are in charge of the scouting activities , I want the shore scouted and checked for threats in the immediate area, and I want the ship tied off. When you get back, that flagon is yours. I want you to make your report to Beazl when you get back if I'm not on deck,"
He patted the strong stout creatures shoulder and walked off into the belly of the ship. It was there, he entered slowly entered into Azazealyn's room, where he found her standing.
"I wanted to apologize to you for how I acted, I don't even know where she is. I acted preemptively. I Was out of line when I kissed you and I want you to know that I'm sorry,"
He had never apologized for kissing a woman before, but here he was, apologizing away for it. Things were going to get Interesting before the week was out.

Azazealyn arched an eyebrow at his apology, hardly taking in his words. She waved a hand, dismissing the topic for the time being. “It hardly matters, as it was in the past. Now, let me rest and all will be forgiven,” she said. That wasn’t the heart of the matter, she really just wanted sleep so she could stop fighting the pull of exhaustion.
“You have a crew to attend to, so I suggest you go see to them and stop worrying about your actions. I will tell you in no uncertain terms if I do have a problem,” she said as violet eyes flashed over his form. “Now, I bid you good night,” she said as she closed the door firmly.
Running a hand through her hair, she decided to actually lock it and lay down to sleep out the storm.

Karpuk motioned for Ski'ath. The Gargoyle came forward dutifully.
"Ski'ath, get anyone that is an archer 'er has experience trackin'. I need anyone that can help in scoutin'. Also, in case we run intah' trouble I need ye' ta' hang back and fly back to either Beazl or the Cap'n to call fer help." said Karpuk, quickly.
After a few minutes several men were gathered. An Elf, three Humans and a rather drunken Goblin. The two Humans were both archers of sorts. One was very tall and had a crossbow, the other was an incredibly slim man with a rather large nose, he wielded a very large longbow. The Elf had a longsword and a very menacing-looking raven. The Goblin carried a large spear and wore close to no armor except for a piece of leather armor around his stomach that was strapped on his shoulders.
"The Elf is Maliss, the Humans are Shey and Kramer, and the Goblin is Speel." said Ski'ath quietly to Karpuk.
"Which on o' ye' is a tracker?" asked Karpuk.
"Speel is one of the best trackers I have ever seen. He is dumb though and I am the only one that can read his sign language," said the slight Human, Kramer. By the looks of him, he was a northerner. His armor was nearly all furs and leather.
"Good, now let's get a move on," said Karpuk.
The group boarded a small boat and Ski'ath lowered it. As the boat touched the water, Ski'ath fluttered down, his wings making little noise. Karpuk grabbed one oar and the Goblin grabbed another. As the boat approached the shore, Maliss whispered to his raven and it flew out.
"Kisann speaks to animals, he will tell us who has been about."

A few hours had passed before the Priestess awoke, stretching before she emerged from her quarters. She listened, the thunder seeming to have already faded off into the distance as the rain continued to pound. The crew was down under the deck, and from the sounds they were in the galley or in the hold, chattering away, singing and playing cards, getting drunk.
Shaking her head, she took her cloak from her room and slipped it around her shoulders, heading away from the noise and onto deck, into the rain. Azazealyn was a dark figure against an even darker background and it was no small surprise to her that some of the crew had problems with her and her race.
She drew her hood up as she opened the hatch, stepping out barefooted onto the rainsoaked deck, the hatch shutting behind her as she listened to the rain for a moment, letting it paint a picture of the ship for her without changing her vision. She could tell by the echoes where things were, a tracking skill perfected in the Underdark by centuries of practice.
Azazealyn moved across the deck, muttering a quick prayer under her breath in the tongue of the Drow, coming to stand by the railing where she would get at least a tiny bit of privacy. There was minimal crew on deck, enough so that a basic attack could be fended off and the rest of the crew would storm the deck and defend the ship.
She looked up, switching her eyes into the infrared spectrum, letting them glow red as she looked around, seeking the heat signatures of the crew. Finding them, she was satisfied as she turned her attention to shore, eyes scanning what she could see for any potential threats. All she saw was wildlife and a cursory search with her magick revealed the same.
"All the life here, and hardly a battle to be found," she mused aloud. "How indeed did a Drow end up here?"
