The same mistake twice. Celestine found himself in Liadi, sitting the beachside bar. He was not even quite sure why he was in the port town, but he was here taking a drink at the bar. He had been looking for his sister Cecilia for some time, and he still had not found her.
The sun had started to settle off in the distance. Night was slowly falling upon Liadi. The mute half breed took another drink out of his beer. He was starting to take interested in just getting completely wasted.
His eyes wandered out to the darkening see as a sigh came up from his chest. He just wanted to find his sister and know that she was safe but it was starting to feel like a hopeless cause.

Cecilia had let Tier lead her down to the coast, on promises that she would enjoy the atmosphere and the new things here and she had been happy to oblige. She loved traveling around with Tier and the kindness and happiness that he seemed to exude when he was around her, as well as the protectiveness of her made her happy. She smiled and laughed as he ran ahead, shifting into some sort of animal that was along the coast.
She pouted cutely, tossing her braid behind her back. "No fair, Tier!" she called. "I can't keep up," she said with a smile on her lips as she slowed down and walked carefully along, concentrating on her surroundings as the playful animagus danced around her in whatever animal form he chose that day, probably something new that she'd never known before.

The same mistake twice. Celestine continue to sit at the bar, drinking from his mug. He was thinking about going off to the inn for the night. There was no reason to drink away his miseries, because simply his miseries would not go away so easily.
His eyes gazed out absently at the ocean. He was hoping for some sort of sign of his sister. He felt like this was the right area to find her for whatever reason.
Tier shapeshifted back into his human form, turning and laughing at Cecilia. “Come on, keep up,” he said with another laugh, walking over and wrapping an arm around her. “Come on, let’s go get something to drink. Alright?”[/blockquote]

"Fine," she said as she wrinkled her nose and playfully pushed his arm off her. "You're wet," she said with a bright laugh as they headed over to the bar, him leading her.
She paused in sight of the bar, tilting her head to the side. Tier had taken a few steps ahead of her before he realized she wasn't following him. When he retreated back to her side and started to speak, she held up a hand to hush him as she took a few steps forward by herself. Something felt right there, as if Celestine was there. After not seeing her twin for a while, she had begun searching for him on her own in every town they had been to.
"Celestine?" she breathed, her voice quiet as she tried to place him.

The same mistake twice. The mute half breed instantly looked to where Cecilia stood as if she had been there the entire time. His eyes locked onto hers as he slowly got up from where he had been sitting.
It took Celestine a long moment to really take in what he was seeing now. He slowly took a step over to his twin, running a hand through his hair. He wanted to call out to her, and he could and only she would be able to hear it.
“Cecilia…” he whispered gently, making it seem like his lips did not move at all.

She heard him and tilted her head to the side, a bit confused at the sudden voice he had. She had always known him to be mute, but she could not mistake his aura. She would have to ask later, she thought. The next instant, she was running towards him, locking her arms around him in a tight hug, as if he were the last thing left on the planet that would keep her sane.
She was silently crying, a few tears trailing down her face as she hugged him. "I'm so sorry, Celestine, I'm sorry," she said over and over again.

The same mistake twice. Celestine wrapped his arms around Cecilia, holding her close to him. He had decided to simply go back to his mute state. They were the only ones who could hear his voice at the moment, so talking to her through it would not make too much sense.
The mute rested his head against his sister’s shoulder, closing his eyes for a moment. The thought of just leaving came to his mind. His heart gave a sudden pain of betrayal and then to confusion. He had missed his sister dearly, but he knew something was up. She was not alone, and she came with some stranger. Celestine instantly did not like this situation.

Cecilia knew her brother was unhappy with her and she tried to stop crying, but she couldn't help but hug her brother tightly and tell him she was sorry over and over again. She lifted her face up and cradled his head between her hands, her fingers able to tell his mood in an instant. "I'll explain everything," she said softly as she leaned up and kissed his forehead.
She knew her older brother was upset with her for leaving, but she'd had to. Celestine was not happy when he was with her and he was probably unhappy without her, but she wanted him to learn to live on his own. She loved her brother to death, but she needed him to be able to be happy in the world and not be upset with those around her.
Upon finding her brother again, all thoughts of Tier had fled her mind as she hugged her brother. She knew that he would figure that it was her brother with the reaction she gave and he wouldn't interfere unless he thought it was necessary.

The same mistake twice. Celestine stepped back from Cecilia, looking down at her. He wanted answers, of course. He loved his sister and he had missed her, but now he thought it was time for answers. He wanted to know why she left, why she hadn’t told him, and where she had gone.
The half breed was happy to see her, though. He had missed her so very much and he realized how much when he ran his fingers through her hair. This was his blind twin sister who had caused him to worry every moment of every day that she had been gone.
He glanced around, wanting to find someplace a bit private for them to really talk.

"We can go down to the beach," she said softly as she felt him pull away, a sad smile on her face as she felt his fingers run through her hair, looking like a small child who had been caught doing something bad. She bit her lip as she shifted on her feet before taking her brother's hand and leading the way she had memorized down to the beach. Once they were on the sand and away from everyone else, she sat down, bringing her knees up to her chest before she began talking, telling her brother everything.
Well, almost everything. She neglected to mention the relationship she had with Tier, but explained to her brother that Tier had been taking care of her as well. It all came pouring out in a rush, as if it had just been waiting for Celestine to appear so she could tell him everything. When she finished, she bit her lip and shifted, hanging her head and causing her hair to spill around her face as she sniffled, a few tears running down her face because her beloved big brother was more than likely beyond angry with her.

The same mistake twice. The mute sat back a bit in the sand, looking out at the ocean. He let out a soft sigh as he thought over what had just been told to him by his sister. He was not even sure how he wanted to take all of this. He did not like it that his sister did leave him so carelessly.
“I just wish you would have told me,” Celestine said, voice very soft just above a whisper. The male twin then went on to tell Cecilia about how he had acquired his voice. He knew she was curious to know how and why. He made sure to explain to her as well that they were the only ones who could hear him there.
Celestine was getting use to using his voice. It was still very strange to him, but he knew it could not be helped. He had to get use to it for this short time.
“I love you, Cecilia. I just… I was worried and panicked.”
The animagus stood back by the beachside bar, watching the twins go off and converse. He knew it was better to let them have their time together. Cecilia had a lot to tell her brother about, and they both had a lot to discuss. [/blockquote]

Cecilia shifted from her spot and hugged him, burying her face in his chest as she tried to stop crying. She just wanted him to be happy and it seemed that she had only hurt him more. "I'm sorry Celestine, I'm so sorry. I love you too, Celestine and I always thought about you, but I know how much you wanted to go out and explore without worrying about me. I just thought that if I left, you would be able to do so and find someone to make you happy, without worrying and always watching out for your blind sister," she murmured as she reached up and ran delicate fingers over his face.
"And I didn't leave you carelessly. If I had told you, you would have insisted on coming with me or you wouldn't have let me go. You can't lie to me about that Celestine," she said softly as she leaned up and kissed his cheek. "I'll always love you, Celestine," she said as she gave him a hesitant smile, wishing he would smile as well but knowing he wouldn't. He was too upset with her.
She knew that Celestine would want to talk to Tier, but she would wait until Celestine wanted to before she let Tier come over. She was thankful that the animagus understood and let her be with her brother for the time being.

The same mistake twice. There had been no enjoyment from his time apart from his sister. He had constantly been worrying about her safety. It was hard for such old habits to just suddenly cease. Celestine would always worry about Cecilia. He had a feeling that there would always be that constant question of, ‘Is Cecilia alright?’. It would never leave him.
She was right, though. He would not have let her go out alone if she would have told him before she had gone. He was glad, however, that someone had stepped in and helped his sister out. Celestine could already tell that there was something else going on between the two than just friendship. Which was something he was going to get right down to.
“I am glad that you are okay, Cecilia,” Celestine said slowly as he thought up the words. “My main fear was not finding you alive. But tell me about your… friend over there exactly. He is not just a companion. What is he really to you?”

Cecilia blushed then, a faint color staining her cheeks. "His name is Tier," she said, giving her brother a look that told him she expected him to use the name. "And he is my companion," she said indignantly, being stubborn. "As well as someone I am fond of and who is fond of me," she said quietly as she hung her head, as if waiting for her brother to storm off and leave her.
"You can talk with him if you like," she offered, knowing that Tier would be patient with the mute halfbreed, just like he had been with her. "He's really nice and he won't get upset with you," she said.

The same mistake twice. “So, he’s my replacement,” Celestine said, looking over to Tier with somewhat of a loathing look. “My replacement who can give you more than I could ever.”
The mute half breed could not help but be a bit jealous and envious of this Tier. He did not know the guy to really judge him on true character. Celestine had always been unable to really provide for his sister and himself. Any man that could do that for Cecilia would cause Celestine to be a bit jealous and a bit upset.
Tier could give Cecilia everything that she wanted, apparently. New clothes, new outlook on life, new happiness. Celestine could already tell that his sister had changed from being with this man. The joy was just radiating off of her skin.
The mute half breed was coming up with another discover as well. Cecilia would no longer need his help anymore. She would no longer need him to protect her. Celestine would have to leave his sister this time instead of her leaving him for fear of just becoming a hindrance on his sister’s life. She did have a right to live, he knew.

Cecilia shook her head quickly, tears already falling down her face. "No one can ever replace you, Celestine," she said as she hugged him again the thought of her brother storming off was more than she could take at the moment. All because Tier made her happy as well.
She bit her lip as she cried some more, realizing that she would at some point have to choose between one and the other and knew that the decision would undoubtedly leave her and one of them hurt. Cecilia just wanted everyone to be happy and no one to be hurt. She hugged her brother tighter, trying to convey to him that no one could ever replace him.
She knew that Tier would make his way over eventually, even more quickly if he saw her crying. She didn't want anyone to fight, she just wanted her brother to be happy for her, that she had found someone else who was accepting of her blindness and did not take advantage of her because of it. But it seemed that Celestine would only be happy if it was the two of them again.
She hugged her brother tighter, still quietly crying, as she wondered if she could leave her brother and go with Tier again, now that she had found him. Cecilia was desperately trying not to think of the outcomes, but it only made her cry more and she knew that her brother would soon get fed up with her and leave, going off on his own way.
The blind halfbreed just wished that Celestine would try to understand so that maybe he could find someone who love him as well, as much as she did. She had always thought that it would be he who left first, not her and she did not blame her twin for being upset and angry, she would be as well, but she also wanted him to try and see it from her perspective. "I'm sorry Celestine," she said again, the sob choking her words.

The same mistake twice. Celestine gave out a sigh, holding his sister close to him. He hated it when she cried. He hated knowing that she was crying because of him. He loved her very much, more than he could ever say. He wanted her to be happy, and he knew that she was happy with Tier.
The mute’s eyes drifted out toward the water once more as he thought. He realized that Cecilia leaving him just reminded him of the abandonment he had felt while they had been forced to live in the Black Market. He had never expected to be left again, especially by his sister who he had always been with, who he had protected and cherished since the beginning of his existence. Perhaps, if she would have given him a heads up before leaving, the feeling of abandonment would not have been so great.
“He makes you happy in such a different way, Cecilia,” Celestine told her. “I could never make you happy in the way he makes you. I just… I just need to let you go with him and live your life.”
The half breed chewed on his lip as he thought about how changed his life was without Cecilia there for him. Getting money was hard for him, having to do a lot of hard physically labor now for only a few copper pieces at best. There was also the loneliness that he had felt every day and night without Cecilia. He was so use to her presence that it was hard to adapt without it. Celestine knew he had to get over all of it. He had to go off on his own and let his sister have her own life.
“I will be the one who leaves this time. I will leave as soon as all of this is over with so you can go back to being happy with Tier. I do not want to burden your mind anymore.”

Cecilia shook her head even harder, the tears coming down now as she clung to her brother. "No, no, no, I don't want you to go," she sobbed as her small hands clutched at the fabric of his shirt, holding on to him desperately. "I made a mistake, I shouldn't have left, I won't leave again," she said as she continued to sob. "I'm sorry, Celestine, please don't go," she begged as her fingers held onto him, feeling as if her world would come to an end if he left her like this.
She was terribly upset, that much was obvious by her sobs and the panic she felt at the thought of her brother leaving and never coming back just because someone else made her happy was enough to start kicking up a slight breeze around them. The more upset she got, the stronger the wind was and right now, it seemed that Celestine was the only one who could calm her down.
"I won't go with Tier," she said as she held onto her brother. "I'll go with you, Celestine." Cecilia was panicked and blinded by the thought of her brother leaving and being mad at her, she was clinging to the only thing that was familiar to her, begging her twin to stay.

The same mistake twice. The mute half breed took hold of Cecilia’s hands gently, taking them from his shirt. He gently held her hands in his, rubbing them lightly. He did not want her to get so upset over this. There was no reason to. Celestine was sure that over the past several days he had gotten probably upset enough for the two of them.
“I will have to go, Cecilia,” he told her gently, his arms quickly wrapping around her. He held her close to him, rubbing her back gently. “You have found someone for yourself. There is no reason for you to leave him to come and be with me.” Celestine let out a slow sigh. “I will go find someone for myself, Cecilia. I promise I will, and I will be happy. You just have to understand that this is so very hard for me. You were able to find someone so quickly, and I can’t help but be envious of you and Tier.”
Celestine gave a slow sigh. Tears started to form in his eyes and then fall. He wished this voice was not temporary. He wished others could hear him instead of the handful of people that could. Communication was probably what allowed Cecilia to meet Tier and get the help that she needed. Celestine could barely interact with others at all.
“I am not upset with you, Cecilia. I understand why you left. It is reasonable. It makes sense. You were trying to help out both of us. If I do not get away from you, I will never have a place in this world.”

Cecilia shook her head, hair flying around her. She was hardly calm right now, but the wind magick had died down. She could feel her brother was crying and she didn't want him to, he couldn't. She hugged her brother, running her hands through his hair like she always did, not wanting him to go. "You will find someone, Celestine," she said, her voice soft. "Everyone finds someone. And you just have to find someone who can look past the fact that they don't hear your voice. Someone who sees the same person that I see," she said as her tears started to slow.
"The only way I met Tier was because he insisted on leading me through the forest because he was convinced I couldn't do it on my own," she said softly as she cradled her brother's face in her hands before leaning up and kissing his forehead. "It is always chance, Celestine that brings people together and takes them apart. I don't want to leave you forever, but we must all go our own ways at some point. I could never leave you and never come back," she said, shaking her head as if to drive home her point.
She ran her fingers through her brother's hair again, wishing desperately she could see him so she could comfort him, instead she was blind and he had no voice. Together they made a complete person. "I don't want you to be envious of Tier and me," she said softly. "I never intended to have a relationship with him. It just happened," she said softly.
"Maybe you'll find a princess, and she'll be really pretty," Cecilia said, trying desperately to get her brother to smile, even if it was a sad one. She lay her head on her brother's shoulder, her fingers still going through his hair as she tried to comfort him. "And then you'll be a king, Celestine. And you can maybe ask this djinn if he knows of a way for you to have a permanent voice," she said, talking quickly as she spun out a story like she had often done.
"Then you'll have no reason to never be happy. You'll have everything," she said softly as she held him close, wanting him to know how much she loved him and how she would never, never leave him and not come back.
"But I think you should not be envious of Tier," she said softly as she cradled her brother's face in her hands. "He's lived a really long time, Celestine. I know that you're unhappy that I left and all, but I was going to come back to you, I had to get out and learn to do somethings on my own. I didn't want you to give up your chance for happiness when it came along because you had to take care of your blind baby sister. I wanted to prove that I could handle being on my own for a while so that when your chance came along, you would take it and be able to know that I could take care of myself."
Cecilia hugged her brother again, hands rubbing up and down his back in a soothing motion as she sat with him. "But I do know that you should smile more, Celestine. It makes people happy when you smile," she said as she sat in the sand with him.
